Perimeter Security Systems (PSS Store) Installs Modern Security Features for New San Bernardino Justice Center

The Superior Court of California has consolidated and modernized its San Bernardino Justice Center. The new 35-courtroom facility is one of the most heavily used justice facilities in the country and to help accommodate the high traffic flow of judges, employees and detainees, the gate security specialists at the Perimeter Security Systems (PSS) Store have installed state of the art HySecurity hydraulic gate operators at the facility.

The specialists at PSS Store installed HySecurity hydraulic gate operators with DC power backup at the San Bernardino Justice Center. HySecurity designs the leading gate operators used in correctional facilities worldwide. The HySecurity operators installed at the San Bernardino Justice Center are the recently upgraded “Slide Driver” hydraulic operators with DC battery back-up systems. Using the same hydraulic technology found in aircraft, these operators are highly reliable, durable and designed to last decades.

This secure system is made up of fully enclosed hydraulic motors, which help drive a rigid drive rail passing between compressed polyurethane wheels. Because there are few moving parts, this system is relatively maintenance free. The battery backup feature ensures full functionality during AC power loss, so that the correctional facility never has to worry about security even during storms or power surges.

As the result of seven years of planning, design and construction, this new 11-story justice structure was opened to the public in May 2014 as a certified green courthouse facility. In addition to its water and waste system leading to its LEED silver certification, the HySecurity hydraulic gates installed by the PSS Store are designed to manage high traffic flows with low energy cost, contributing to the building’s green status.
